To have achieved what Danny Avila has at the age of 26 is phenomenal enough. To have
done it with such integrity and passion makes it even more special. With a feisty production
sound and an unique DJ style, he is a breath of fresh air in a world where many artists are
happy to stick to the same formula. In addition to his international multi-single deal with
SONY MUSIC, his music has also been released on major labels including Interscope,
Musical Freedom, Spinnin’ Records, Hexagon, Smash The House and Ultra Music, followed
by a history of hundreds of million streams. In 2017, he made the highest re-entry to the DJ
Mag Top100 DJs 2017 poll at #52, while in 2021 reaching #34, still being the highest ranked
Spanish DJ ever, emphasizing his powerful impact on the scene as of late. In Danny’s eyes,
DJing is a form of art, hence the variety of genres from techno to big-room and from techhouse to trap, always finding a way to take people on a journey. This mentality has been a
rewarding one to say the least, having achieved what many DJs can only dream of at 26.
On top of his weekly radio show, he also counts three compilations to his name: ‘Ministry of
Sound presents: Danny Avila Live’, Space Ibiza’s ‘Ibiza Calling’ and DJ Mag UK Danny
Avila’s Big Room Mix. Danny was the youngest artist to ever make the cover mount CD for
DJ Mag UK. To top of his extremely long list of musical achievements, Danny Avila has
collaborated with world-renowned fashion brands New Yorker, and tigha, who approached
him due to his extravagant style.
After starting DJing in his native Marbella at 12 and producing from the age of 13, Danny
moved to Madrid at just 14 to cut his teeth in the city’s club scene, with the prodigious
talent scoring gigs before he was legally allowed into clubs. “I knew it was going to be
hard,” he says “but there was just nowhere for me to get any real experience playing out in
Marbella and I’ve never let my age stop me doing anything. My older brother spoke to local
promoters for me and that’s how I started getting my very first gigs.”
Tiësto soon followed suit, personally requesting Danny to play alongside him at Pacha
Ibiza. “Danny can play for 10 hours, he can play different genres and can read the crowd. I
see in him how I was when I was his age. He’s a burst of energy!”. It’s this exact mentality
that remains an integral part of Danny Avila’s talent. Together with Tiësto, Danny toured
across Asia, North America and Europe, and later again alongside Calvin Harris on the
‘Greater Than Tour’ arena series – which sold-out tens of thousands of tickets in a matter of
hours. He was also part of a bus tour through the US, during which he played 28 gigs over
the course of just 30 days. It’s these mega tours that were the perfect stepping stones for
Danny to venture out and start headlining shows for himself, which is validated by the now
endless list of top tier performances, including Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, EDC,
Electric Zoo, Creamfields, Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld, ZoukOut, Parookaville, Mare
Nostrum, Nature One and Airbeat One, to LIV Miami and Space New York, and the
legendary Life In Colour shows. Not to mention his residency in Las Vegas, making him one
of the youngest resident artists ever and having his radio show MORE syndicated to
Emirates Airlines on all their flights.
2016 also saw Danny starting to take on the role of a mentor to the next generation of
artists, like Tiësto and Calvin Harris were for him. Danny was the official ambassador and
judge for NYDJAY, which was the biggest DJ contest of its sort in Europe. With stops in
seven major European cities, the contest was a first of its kind and Danny’s involvement is a
testament to his abilities. While NYDJAY was entering its final weeks, Danny released his
first official track of 2017, a remix for renowned singer Gavin James. Danny’s remix of „I
Don’t Know Why“ immediately started charting and reached six million streams in no time
after the release. Following up on this first big success, Danny released a remix for Tiësto’s
track „On My Way“. And if all that wasn’t enough, he’s not only spearheading the next
generation of superstar DJ/producers – he’s also pretty prolific at turning the ordinary into
the extraordinary, when it comes to anything concerning a board. Verging on pro skate and
snowboarder status, Avila also deservedly notched up 2nd place in the Spanish Wakeboard
Championships, 7th in the European Wakeboard Championships and 12th in the World
Wakeboard Championships.
After successful singles (“End Of The Night“, “Hard To Love“, “Good Times“, “BRAH“),
stunning collabs (“Too Good To Be True“ featuring UK band The Vamps and one of the US’
biggest rap exports; Machine Gun Kelly) and remixes (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s
“Instagram – Danny Avila Remix“), Danny Avila continues to expand his impressive array of
releases in 2018 and 2019, including collabs with Deorro, NERVO (again!), Famous Dex and
Will Sparks. To top 2019 off, he was thrilled to celebrate his birthday with his first single
(“Thinking About You”) ever to be released on his very own label NUMB3R5. His touring
schedule kept him busy in countries all around the globe, no matter if in front of super-sized
festival crowds such as Tomorrowland (BE) or on stage at high-profile clubs such as
Bootshaus (DE), Ushuaia Ibiza (ES), Octagon (JP), Paradise Beach & Illuzion (TH), Ministry
of Sound Club (UK), Lavo NY (US), Temple (US), to just name a few. With a massive elevenshows-tour through China’s ever-growing club culture Danny made one of his biggest
announcements so far. Always on the lookout for the next step ahead, he managed to add
another highlight to his 2019 agenda with his phenomenal mainstage live show at Untold
Festival. After extensive curating, he brought renowned Berlin-based breakdance company
Flying Steps with him to Romania to embrace the beauty and art of electronic music in a
powerful live concept, which was streamed live to his fans all around the world via the
official website of Untold.
And there is no stop to it. Even 2020, with COVID-19 hitting the world, Danny went out of
his way to share his passion with his fans. As one of the first high-profile DJs taking the risk
of travelling to a live show half way around the world, he complied with comprehensive
health precautions and safety measures, including strict health control and PCR testing and
a 14-day quarantine in Taipei in order to make it to his exclusive mainstage closing
performance at S2O Festival in Taipei in September in front of a live audience of 25.000
people, as well as 4 more live club shows all around the island. Never neglecting his release
schedule, he kicked off 2020 with his feel good spring-vibe anthem “Beautiful Girls“,
followed by the explosive “Run Wild“ on the Tiësto-curated AFTR:HRS label. Not to
mention the three singles “Remedy“, “My Love“, and “The Unknown“ released on Don
Diablo’s label Hexagon, featuring emotional catchy vocals combined with Danny’s unique
signature production sound, which is both, easy to the ear and great in DJ sets. Ongoing,
Danny Avila continues to proof his wide spread genre skills, successfully reinventing the
huge 2000’s dance / pop hit from Leona Lewis “Bleeding Love“ together with brand-new
UK artist Ekko City, and dropping his single “Pushin” on Musical Freedom just one week
later and My Blood (Spinnin) to close this very special year.
Danny Avila kicked off 2021 with his 4th Hexagon release „Hometown Heroes“ and a Remix
compilation of „My Blood“ and his first releases ever on Sam Feldt’s label Heartfeldt
Records „Searchlight“, “Unlearn To Love” (feat. madugo) and “No One Else Is You“. This
was being followed by the premiere of Danny Avila’s all-new, state-of-the-art dance music
concept Mainstage Techno, a sound project he had worked on behind the scenes for over a
year. Introduced at the renowned digital festivals Tomorrowland Around the World and DJ
MAG UK Virtual Festival, followed by his live shows at Epic Club in Prague and Untold
Festival in Romania, Danny Avila surprised his fans with three unofficial remix releases out
of these sets. His Mainstage Techno interpretations of ‚Love Tonight’ (Shouse), ‚Best Of Me’
(ARTBAT, Sailor & I) and ‚Feel The Beat’ (Darude) are the prefect examples of his new dark,
energetic and edgy sound style. Not only did his fans get to enjoy just streaming these set
highlights, but as a special gift, they were offered “Best Of Me” and “Feel The Beat” as free
downloads. His debut single on Armada Music ‘Mother & Father’ (feat. Bukhu) immediately
hit the Top 10 of Beatport’s Mainstage Top 100 Chart and was ranked in the Top 10 on
1001tracklists’ Trending Tracks within a few days. There is so much more in Danny’s
Mainstage Techno pipeline to surprise the world and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
